2021 Syrah

Adelaide Hills

This elegant Syrah is made from grapes grown on the Lloyd Brothers cool climate Adelaide Hills Estate. Ruby red in colour with a lovely perfume lift and aromas of raspberry, mulberry and a touch of white pepper. Layers of red fruits, dark plum and five spice continue on the palate.  A percentage of whole bunches in the open ferments has added to the lift and brightness, resulting in a delicious medium bodied Syrah.

“Ink black core to a deep purple rim. Blackberry, black olive, and anise aromas. Big and intense with dark berry fruit intertwined with black olive tapenade and herbal notes. Firm sandy tannins frame the weight well and it lingers quite long at the finish.” Stuart Knox

“This is exceptional for the price. Mid-weighted of feel and brimming with the cool aura of high-quality syrah over the jam of shiraz. Dried nori, blueberry, lilac and a swab of green olive tapenade. Best is the pepper-doused skein of freshness and furl of tannin at the finish, driving and corralling this immensely savoury and nourishing wine. Delicious.” Ned Goodwin MW

“A style that offers Freshness, plenty of spice and elegance but a softer feel as well. The nose is all red plums, raspberry and spice with fresh perfume too. The Palate has crunchy acidity, elegance and punchy red plum and darker berry fruits, juicy finish.” Nick Stock

“Pomegranate freshness leaps from the glass of this 2021 Adelaide Hills Syrah—the whole-bunch component supports this, and in the mouth it is reinforced in spades. All things are in balance, and the impact is a little overt for my tastes. But it's also brambly, spicy and layered, so who am I to say "no" to that. This is a "styled" wine and will suit some folks right down to the ground.” Erin Larkin
