About Us

Lloyd Brothers is a family owned winery and olive grove located in the heart of McLaren Vale. Lloyd Brothers wines and olives are handcrafted to highlight the very best of the fruit grown on our Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale Estates. The 65 hectare McLaren Vale Estate is home to the cellar door, winery and purpose built barrel hall which plays host to impressive festivals, weddings and events.

Our Story

Hugh and Molly Lloyd established Coriole Vineyards in 1969 as the family winery for them and their 5 children.
In 1985, brothers Guy and Mark Lloyd purchased the historic Olive Grove Block, just over the hill from Coriole, with the intention of expanding the family wine business into Table Olives and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Unfortunately due to Guy Lloyd’s sudden passing, the Olive Grove property was sold, but not before Mark Lloyd was able to set the Coriole Olive business on its path to success, sourcing fruit from local growers.
In the year 2000, Guy Lloyd's sons, Matthew and David Lloyd purchased back the original Olive Grove Block, having spent many memorable days on the farm and wishing to add another chapter to this historic property.
This purchase paved the way for the Lloyd Brothers Wine & Olive Company to be re-established.
A few years later, having spent many years developing his Kangarilla Estate (now the home of Yangarra Wines), Matthew sold this property to expand his agricultural interests across South Australia, along with relocating his family to the pristine Adelaide Hills, just outside Oakbank.
It was at this time, Matthew decided to sell his interest in Lloyd Brothers Pty Ltd to David and his wife Leanne.
Though Matthew is no longer involved in the day to day operations, he continues to supply fruit to the business via his Adelaide Hills vineyard.

McLaren Vale Estate

Our 60 hectare McLaren Vale property is home to our Estate Vineyards and historic Olive Grove, with the Winery, Cellar Door and Function Hall at the heart of it all.

Apart from being an award winning vineyard, the property also has a deep history as one of the oldest commercial Olive Groves in the country, with Verdale trees planted by an English pioneer in the late 1800's.
In the 1960’s, many of the old Verdale trees were grafted over to the table olive variety - Kalamata, by a Greek immigrant to create what is believed to be the first commercially planted Kalamata Grove in the State.
Cuttings of these Verdale and Kalamata trees have been sourced from this historic grove to help establish the South Australia Olive Industry.

Lloyd Brothers continues to maintain and honour the Groves history, by using traditional techniques and organic farming practices, ensuring the highest quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Table Olives are produced.

Adelaide Hills Vineyard

In 2015, David purchased Miegunyah, our Range Vineyard in the Southern region of the Adelaide Hills, overlooking McLaren Vale.
Miegunyah, an Aboriginal term for - My Home, is a beautiful 45-hectare property, with just over 25 hectares planted to vines.
With constant reworking of this old vineyard, David decided to graft 2 hectares of what is believed to be the first Picpoul Blanc planted in the Adelaide Hills along with 1 hectare of Prosecco to complement the well-established Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio.

Matthew’s vineyards are located in the Adelaide Hills sub region of Lenswood, giving Lloyd Brothers contrasting characteristics when creating and defining the range of cool climate wines they produce.
