2023 Adelaide Hills Estate Picpoul
Adelaide Hills
This wine is made from Picpoul grapes grown on the Lloyd Brothers cool climate vineyard in the Adelaide Hills and is believed to be the first and only Adelaide Hills Picpoul.
Pale in colour, this bright, fresh Picpoul has lifted aromas of Spring blossoms, lemon myrtle and lemon zest. The palate displays green apples, honeysuckle, lemon and lime making it a lovely fresh, crisp drinking white wine. Originating from the South of France, Picpoul is famously paired with Oysters and seafood. Best enjoyed chilled.
91 points Halliday Wine Companion - "There's claim that this is the first (and only) Adelaide Hills picpoul going around. The wine is refreshing and pure in its feel. A delicate, seaside kind of white with lemon blossom, kiwi fruit and briny scents. Offers flavours of more kiwi, some lime and soft mandarin-like sweet-sour characters. There's a good extension of flavour and a pleasing, saline minerality through the finish. You can see oysters in its future. It's a great wee drink, best consumed in vigorous youth." - Mike Bennie
91 points The Wine Front - "Pear, green apple, lemon zest, a light floral top note. It’s tight and bright, green apple and lemon, with a fine chalky grip, some grapefruit pith and green herb, and a clean finish of good length offering a briny aftertaste. I like the texture and tangy energy here" – Gary Walsh
